Plot:
The film begins with Dumbledore appearing as if from nowhere, and speaks to a cat who transfigures into an elderly woman, Professor McGonagall. Hagrid delivers Harry Potter from a flying motorbike. 11 years later Harry is living with his Aunt, Uncle and Cousin where he is treated very badly. Harry accidentally makes a pane of glass disappear at London Zoo while his cousin is leaning against it. He talks to a snake which, in later films, is quite significant. Eventually, after his uncle gets hold of every letter sent to him, Harry reads a letter telling him all about wizardry and inviting him to attend Hogwarts school for witches and Wizards. The whole film revolves around Harry becoming a more experienced young wizard at his new school, meeting Ron and Hermione, his new best friends. They come across a giant three headed dog that we later discover is called Fluffy. However, Fluffy is guarding The Philosophers Stone. It is guarded not only by a giant three headed dog, but also by 3 other tasks. Harry continues to the last room alone where he meets Voldemort, his parents’ killer, for the first time, where he also vanquishes him for the second time. The film ends happily ever after.
The Harry Potter series has always been my all time favourite and I did struggle with the plot, as I didn’t want to go into too much detail. This film however, isn’t my favourite. There are long periods that can be very action less, but others that are full of action or humour, but the times without overrule my opinion of the film. Though, this may be because I’ve seen the film so many times, who knows. The film is generally great, as there is an all star cast, and created celebrities by the dozen.
